Our most favorite #1 daughter had motored from her home on AustinTX to join family for a few days, and one evening I treated the three of us to a lovely meat-filled meal. We walked a short distance --no point in competing for a (motor) vehicle space--and joined a rather lengthy queue to place our order. Surprisingly, it moved rather quickly, and we were soon sitting outside under the awning gnawing the plated BBQ brisket/sausage/chicken. We had thought we might have some leftovers for a future meal, but it was just so dang delicious, and it was later than usual. The outdoor seating at picnic tables, each with a paper towel roll (the usual BBQ additive) for this truly finger-licking good dishes repast. This was definitely an excellent way to wrap up her visit! Obviously, it has my coveted "iWheel of Approval!"

So, I know that Thanksgiving is all about the turkey, but here in Texas we also take our pecan pies seriously, too. So when I was asked to bring desserts to our family gatherings (and I was too busy to bake as I was unexpectedly on call), I knew that it had to be a Brazos Bottom Pecan Pie. This pecan pie just oozes Texas. It is bigger, it is gooier and it is richer. Filled with fresh Texas pecans harvested from the banks of the Brazos River and then nestled into luscious layers of homemade Goode-ness. Oh, and their barbeque is so Goode, too. Not in Texas? Meat and beans had good flavor. The Mac was good but could use more cheese and be less runny. I love that jalapeño bread! The three meat plate a pretty good value, would have wanted just a little more brisket. I like that you can specify when ordering on the app what cut of meat you want.
